A Spotlight on Data Spaces for Manufacturing

During the dedicated session “Artificial Intelligence: The New Catalyst of the Digital World” (12:10–13:00), Odysseas Kokkinos, Project Manager at INNOV-ACTS, introduced the audience to UNDERPIN and its vision for a Pan-European Data Space for Manufacturing. The presentation, titled “UNDERPIN: Pioneering a Pan-European Data Space for Manufacturing”, showcased how the project is advancing secure, interoperable data exchange and predictive maintenance in the manufacturing sector.

UNDERPIN’s mission aligns closely with the event’s focus on collaboration, sustainability, and digital transformation. By developing an open, trustworthy data-sharing ecosystem, UNDERPIN supports manufacturers – especially SMEs – in leveraging AI to boost efficiency, reduce costs, and anticipate equipment failures before they occur.

A Hub for AI, Innovation, and Networking

The AI Connected Business World 2025 brought together a dynamic mix of tech executives, startup founders, public sector leaders, and academic researchers. Discussions covered civil protection, smart cities, digital infrastructure, and of course, artificial intelligence as a driver of transformation.

UNDERPIN’s presence was not limited to the stage. INNOV-ACTS also hosted a booth, welcoming attendees to explore the project’s technologies and engage with the team. Visitors had the chance to discuss how data spaces are revolutionizing industrial collaboration, and how the UNDERPIN ecosystem fosters interoperability and trust across borders and industries.

As highlighted throughout the conference, meaningful digital progress relies not only on cutting-edge tools but also on openness, skills development, and cooperative ecosystems. UNDERPIN exemplifies this approach by connecting stakeholders across the European manufacturing landscape and laying the groundwork for scalable, AI-driven solutions.

With its successful presentation at AI Connected Business World 2025, UNDERPIN continues to build momentum across the EU innovation landscape. Stay tuned for upcoming milestones, collaborations, and insights as the project accelerates the digital transformation of manufacturing.
